HCHC COMMUNITY PARTICIPATES IN U.S. VISIT OF HIS ALL-HOLINESS

A large contingent of Hellenic College 圣十字 students, 教师, and administrators traveled to New York City on Saturday, 10月30日, to attend a luncheon with His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. The event took place at the Marriott Marquis hotel and was sponsored by Leadership 100, whose programs support the well-being of clergy and their families, the students and seminarians of HCHC, and other ministries of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.

At the luncheon, a magnificent icon was presented to His All-Holiness by Jonathan Cadez, president of HCHC’s Student Government Association. Joining Jonathan for the presentation were Fr. George Parsenios, Dean of 圣十字, Dr. Timothy Patitsas, interim Dean of Hellenic College, and Fr. Michael Kouremetis, Dean of 学生. As he presented the icon, Jonathan said, “你r All-Holiness, our most beloved, 值得尊敬的, and loving Spiritual Father Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. 你, who constantly pray for all of God’s creation, and especially for your beloved Hellenic College and 圣十字 Greek Orthodox School of Theology, which cares, 培育, and educates your children that live in the Western Hemisphere and throughout the world. The Σχολή is the lifeblood that feeds the parishes of your Holy Archdiocese of America, with both men and women that serve our Lord and His Church faithfully, as clergy and lay alike. The student body of our beloved school joyfully and humbly present this gift, in commemoration and in celebration of the 30th Anniversary of your Enthronement to the Holy, 神圣的, and Venerable See of Saint Andrew the First Called Apostle. 你r entire Σχολή loves you, embraces you, and constantly prays for you. Εις Πολλά Έτι Δέσποτα!!”

HCHC President George M. Cantonis remained in New York to attend several later events associated with the visit of His All-Holiness, culminating in the Thyranoixia (Opening the Doors) of the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine on Tuesday, November 2. Also representing HCHC were Fr. Parsenios and Dr. Patitsas. Reflecting on a historic week, President Cantonis said, “It was a great honor for all of us to be in the presence of His All-Holiness during the visit celebrating the thirtieth anniversary of his enthronement, and it was especially wonderful that our students were invited to be part of something they will never forget.”
